English at Schwabach Commercial School

We at the English Department at Schwabach Commercial School cover various areas of learning English as a second language.

With a strong focus on Business English and everyday business communications we try to implement general language skills as well as listening, reading and writing skills.

English is taught in all grades (7-11) and is part of the final exam.

Learning Aids

We use ACE series one and two, (Access to Commercial English, v. Parr et al.) because we think this provides our students with the necessary language patterns and enough material for working on texts and general grammar.

To improve their oral skills and fluency students are encouraged to hold short lectures and provide information material in class.

Activities

The English Department offers an English play by an English drama group every two years to make students familiar with English spoken by native speakers and to show them how much they actually understand.

Another highlight in our school’s calendar is the trip to England. Year 8 students can enjoy the England and its exciting capital in the week after Carnival Monday.

This year some of our students will take the Cambridge ESOL Preliminary Test (PET). PET is at Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) — an internationally recognized benchmark of language ability.

Englisch an der Wirtschaftsschule Schwabach

An der Wirtschaftsschule Schwabach wird Englisch als Fremdsprache in abwechslungsreichen Lernfeldern unterrichtet.

Ein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf dem Wirtschaftsenglisch. Darüber hinaus werden auch andere Sprachfähigkeiten, wie Leseverstehen, Hörverstehen und freies Schreiben gefördert.

Englisch wird in allen Jahrgangsstufen (7-11) unterrichtet und ist Teil der Abschlussprüfung.

Lernmittel und Lernhilfen

Als Lehrbuch wird ACE (Access to Commercial English, v. Parr et al.) eingesetzt, weil wir denken, dass dieses Lehrbuch die nötigen Sprachmittel und genügend Material für die Arbeit mit Texten und das Erlernen der notwendigen Grammatik bereitstellt.

Unsere Schüler werden angehalten kurze Präsentationen in der Fremdsprache zu halten, um ihre Sprachfähigkeit und Ausdrucksweise zu verbessern.

Aktivitäten

Die Fachschaft Englisch bietet jedes zweite Jahr ein englisches Theaterstück an, welches von einer muttersprachlichen Theatergruppe vorgetragen wird. Unsere Schüler sind jedes Mal überrascht und begeistert, wie viel sie schon verstehen können.

Ein weiterer Höhepunkt in unserem Schulleben ist die jährliche Englandfahrt der 8. Klassen. In der Woche nach Rosenmontag können unsere Schüler England und die Hauptstadt erleben.

Dieses Jahr werden auch erstmals Schüler an der Cambridge Zertifikatsprüfung (PET) teilnehmen. Diese Prüfung ist auf dem Sprachniveau B1 des Europäischen Referenzrahmens und international anerkannt.
